Very disappointed with the 4.2.9 link that was provided. It did start out fast, but as the saying goes – “A watched pot never boils.” This definitely applies. It started out very, very fast, as soon as it hit a certain point, the speed would drop. I was downloading at 2.3 Mb/s, it then dropped to 200 kb/s. I have not had the opportunity to see if the jailbreak works on the Verizon iPhone on the Mac.

Showing error of “Unable to recognize specified IPSW” in redsn0w.

    iPhone 4 w/ Verizon 4.2.10

Downloaded the correct patch, but not sure what the fault is.

    Thanks,
    Dean.

I downloaded cydia, and then once I downloaded winterboard ad other packages, My iphone froze on the boot up apple logo. Wtf

Question. I understand the concept of tethered, meaning you will loose the JB if the device turns off or reboots. My question is when the device turns back on will it function normally or will I be prompted to connect with iTunes? Thank you in advance.

  5. Mike Matta says:

Ok, I have gone through this process several times. I am running iOS 4.2.10. I have the firmware for 4.2.9 and redsn0w 0.9.8b3. I have no issues jailbreaking my phone and getting cydia to work properly. The issue I’m having is every time I install something from cydia that requires a reboot, my phone gets stuck at the apple logo on reboot. When I reboot, I am using redsn0w and selecting the “tethered” reboot option. I have had to restore my iPhone 4 times because of this issue. Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong??

    • Admin says:

I don’t think you are doing anything wrong. A lot of users has had this same problem when it comes to the Verizon iphone 4. Unfortunately the Dev team hasn’t update their jailbreak tool to fix this problem, so there is not that you can do.

I’m trying it one last time using the links from your guys site. I deleted all previous redsnow and iOS that I had and used the ones right from your site. I am going to see if this works, if not, I am probably just going to give up for now… Thanks for the help

  6. Steve says:

Worked perfectly thanks, was stuck a long time trying to jailbreak with 4.2.10 but just use redsnow with 4.2.9 it works. Thanks again

    Thanks

    • Admin says:

Try a different web browser and see if that helps. And if you don’t have your SHSH Blobs backed up then you can’t downgrade.

  9. Keryn says:

Thanks a lot I finally got it to work. It was kind of tricky, at the end I use fix recovery on http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/ It was the only thing that work for me for the errors.
